I’m pleased to share that “Loaded Dice” has been selected for The New England Prize Show, presented by the Cambridge Art Association. The exhibition was juried by Paige Roehrig, Executive Director of the Copley Society of Art in Boston.

The show will be presented at two Cambridge locations: the Kathryn Schultz Gallery and University Place Gallery. “Loaded Dice” will be on view at University Place Gallery. Addresses and gallery hours are listed below.

Both galleries will host opening receptions on Wednesday, November 4, from 6–8 pm. Awards will be announced at the Kathryn Schultz Gallery at 7 pm. I hope you can join us!

About “Loaded Dice”...

“Loaded Dice” is a multi-layered mixed media construction combining Dura-Lar, plexiglass, and paper on aluminum composite with ink, pigment transfers, graphite, colored pencil, painted papers, paper clay, reemay, silk thread, copper wire, aluminum, and dice.

The piece explores the seductive side of power and the ways appearances can conceal darker intentions. At first glance, a crowned, jack-in-the-box-like figure seems playful, but a closer look reveals more unsettling imagery beneath the surface. The contrast between whimsical forms and ominous details invites a second look, suggesting how easily spectacle can distract us from what lies beneath.
