How do you make the jewelry?
The colorful patterns that set my jewelry apart are created using a process I developed nearly 20 years ago. After designing a pattern, I create several photo silkscreens, one for each layer of the design. Using transparent enamel paints, I silkscreen 4 to 6 layers onto a sheet of aluminum or brass. Colors are painstakingly mixed to get just the right hues. Their transparency creates a blending effect and helps reveal the sheen of the metal. The shapes are then cut and the edges beveled by hand. Lacquer is applied to protect the painted design and to prevent tarnishing.

Textured metal is often used in combination with the painted pieces. Rollerprinting impresses pattern and texture onto the metal, and beadblasting creates the matte sheen. In addition the brass pieces are electroplated with 24K gold.

Both the painted and textured metal shapes are then assembled together along with various wire and bead formations.

I’m concerned about allergies. What are your earwires, posts, and clips made of?
My earwires are either 14K gold fill or sterling silver. Solid 14K gold earwires are available on many earring designs for an additional charge. Earposts are surgical steel. Earclips are either raw brass or rhodium plated brass.

How do I care for and clean my jewelry?
The enamel surface is very durable and the color will not fade, but like all jewelry should be treated with care. It's a good idea to keep the jewelry in the plastic pouch provided in order to prevent scratches and tarnishing. Please avoid spraying hairspray or perfume directly on the jewelry as the alcohol and solvents in these products can compromise the finish.

For cleaning I first recommend using mild soap and water to remove oils and dirt. An old soft toothbrush works great. Rinse and dry well. This is best done by sliding a paper towel in between the layers.

For removing tarnish, I recommend Tarn-x as it will not harm the painted surface. Just dip the item into the solution. Then rinse and dry well, especially in between layers as described above.

I’ve lost one of the earrings, can I get a mate made for the remaining one?
Usually it’s not a problem if the style is a fairly current one. To confirm availability, you can email me a photo of the earring. If a mate can be made, the best match is made by sending me the remaining single, but if you prefer, I will do it using the photo as a guide. The cost is half the retail price of a full pair, plus shipping.

What if my jewelry breaks?
I will fix or replace it at no charge. Please contact me by phone or email for mailing instructions.
